| AUSTRALIAN MAID v INTRIGUE (Race 4) |
| Facts Found The skipper of AUSTRALIAN MAID tendered photos taken at about the time of the incident as new evidence to support her case to reopen HEARING NO 5. From the photographs taken which were used together with statements from witnesses, it was evident that AUSTRALIAN MAID to leeward and close hauled and INTRIGUE about 7 degrees lower and windward were on a converging course towards the starboard end of the start line close to the Race Committee boat. As they approached the Race Committee boat, AUSTRALIAN MAID was ahead and too leeward with a small overlap. AUSTRALIAN MAID bore away to leave a gap between herself and the Race Committee boat for INTRIGUE and thereafter returned to close hauled to start. INTRIGUE kept her course but luffed her sails to slow down and fell behind the stern of AUSTRALIAN MAID and passed the port side of the Race Committee boat. There was no contact |
