Disabled Sailing Thailand at the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta 2024

Disabled Sailing Thailand (DST) will compete in the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta, championing inclusivity and resilience. Founded in 2015, DST has been a beacon of hope and empowerment for disabled athletes in Thailand, fostering a community where sailing is not only a sport but a transformative journey.

Seven S\V14 accessible boats will be crewed by a diverse mix of disabled and non-disabled athletes, fostering unity and teamwork. Competitors from both Phuket and Pattaya will join forces, embodying the spirit of camaraderie that defines DST.

“Our journey is about more than just sailing—it’s about breaking barriers and creating opportunities,” said DST founding member Peter Jacops. “We believe in the power of sport to unite people from all walks of life.”

Disabled Sailing Thailand invites everyone to witness the power of perseverance and unity at this year’s King’s Cup. “Let this event serve as a reminder that when we work together, we can overcome any obstacle,” said Jacops, who concluded by saying, “A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor, but it is through challenges that we find our true strength.”

Thailand’s first beach mat (40m) for wheelchair accessibility will also be installed at Kata Beach during the competition.
